It is now repaired, and I still enjoy the vehicle. The vehicle has been fine since the repair (June 2019). The problem got increasingly worse, I had to add a quart of oil about every 1000 miles at the end. My dealer performed the repair at cost (about 50% off the normal cost), which I found acceptable, but the problem of oil consumption persisted for years before they acknowledged the problem and performed the repair. "There was a class action lawsuit re: a manufacturing defect in my engine (See links below), but my vehicle didn't exceed the threshold of oil consumption in time to qualify for the free repair before the terms of the recall expired.
